Walking sticks are hand-crafted from beautiful woods that grow in America. 

       If you're going to take a hike, you might as well walk in style. A good looking walking stick of the right length and heft cand turn an ordinary walk into a joyful stroll. Each of our walking sticks has been individually chosen and each is unique - the only one in the world. There are many different lengths, some are carved, all are beautiful and practical. Woods include twisted oak, hickory, hardwood root, sweet gum, aromatic cedar, sassafras, and colorwood.

      You've no doubt heard the Chinese proverb "A picture is worth 10,000 words." So, pictures it is, with a few words to boot. (Some say that it's "1,000 words", not 10,000. Wrong! When the wise Chinese say 10,000 they dont mean it literally. By "10,000" they mean a really big number - more than any person could or would count. BAKERY - Homemade baked goods are far and away our most popular merchandise. You will find a full array of delicious breads, coffeecakes, and plenty of cookies. Speaking of which, our GINGER SNAPS are the topmost favorite with our cookie loving customers. Every single one is formed by hand, just like your great grandmother might have made

GIFTS - Really, what's a gift, anyway? Many of our customers come in for bags of herbs and spices and put them into a basket or gift bag and - voila! - a gift for a friend who likes to cook. Others will buy a Wrapple or Roll-up (or maybe two or four) and have a gift for a person who's at a nursing home or shut in. Candy or chocolate have always made a great gift. Or how about maple syrup or maple candy? Or luscious chocolates - sugar free, even?

KITCHEN - Kitchen tools is a favorite category for three good reasons. 1. Women and men both feel at home among our hundreds of chef’s tools and kitchen gadgets. 2. You’ll find almost any tool you could ever want. 3. There’s tons more things than just tools, for example you’ll find some 85 different herbs and spices; jams, jellies, syrups, and many kinds of mustards. 4. (Okay, we did say three good reasons, but the best reason of all is that our prices are so reasonable – especially for our herbs and spices. We buy herbs and spices in large quantities and put them up in bags that are pretty much the right size for most home cooks. You’ll find that ounce for ounce, our herbs and spices may be as little as one-tenth the price of super market brands. Our customers buy these by the zillions, and we're very pleased to be a part of their recipes.

CANDY - Candy is another favorite with just about everybody - duhh! We buy much of our excellent candy in large quantities and put it up in convenient size, clear bags. We also have a pretty good selection of sugar free candies and chocolates. Of course, there’s “penny” candy for youngsters - after all, this is a country store,even if you can't find much for just one cent. (When we first opened in 1977, youngsters found 14 different candies for just a penny!)

JEWELRY -  We have exquisite sterling silver from some of America’s finest artisans. You’ll find no fewer than 1,500 pairs of earrings! We offer necklaces, bracelets, and pins – all of exceptional quality and in full fashion. Young women and younger girls also enjoy shopping for jewelry at the General Store. ICE CREAM - Then there’s ice cream. Real ice cream. It’s the kind that’s made with fresh cream, natural flavors, and loads of fruits and nuts. We get it from a small, family owned Pennsylvania creamery - one of America's finest. You can enjoy a different flavor every day and you'll need a month to taste them all!

REFRESHMENTS - Coffee, tea, chai, cocoa, and hot mulled cider are served in our ice cream parlor. Five different coffees (We grind the beans fresh) and a dozen or more teas are all gourmet quality. If you like the taste, you can buy a bag of coffee (35 varieties) or a box of tea (75 varieties) to take home. You can grind your fair traded coffee beans at the store, or we’ll gladly do it for you. You'll also find all kinds of soft drinks and juices and waters.
